Learn the basics of studio shooting and lighting techniques with a live model in a real studio environment. Great for those with no experience using large off camera lights or working solely in controlled lighting. If you have thought about setting up your own studio or trying your first studio session but have been confused or intimidated by the unique equipment and challenges, this class is for you!
Major topics covered:
1. Learn to make a good portrait using only one light.
2. Learn the standard lighting scenarios such as loupe lighting, rembrandt lighting, butterfly lighting, split lighting.
3. Learn to set up a second light as a rim light or "kicker"
4. Understand flash sync and exposure controls for use with studio lights.
5. Learn about light shaping tools such as the softbox, umbrella, grid, snoot, and beauty dish.
Prerequisites-
-Students should have a basic understanding of manual exposure (setting aperture, shutter and ISO independently. If you have taken Photography 102 this will count too)
-Students should have a digital SLR type camera.
Class will start with a presentation and intro to the various types of equipment used in a studio, as well as a breakdown of how your camera setting interact with studio equipment. Hands on shooting will follow.
*This class will be conducted in a studio with professional lighting. The class starts at 1:30pm and will last until 5:30pm Come ready to learn and make sure to bring your DSLR camera, fully charged, plenty of memory cards and a pen and paper to take some awesome notes.'
