Ever wonder why Rob's photos have terrific lighting? Then take this class. I would have paid $500 for it. Sorry Rob, I won't cough it up in hindsight. However, I will take it 4 more times until I can do this kind of lighting in my sleep. I have been high on it all day from yesterday's class.

This class was great! Lots of shooting time and time to experiment with different lighting setups and settings. Best class I've taken through this group! Rob is really good at explaining things and makes it fun.

Take your photography to the next level by learning to light outdoors with small flash! In this class you will learn the basics of “strobist” photography-

1. Using your flash off camera

2. Using wireless, manual flash

3. Balancing flash with ambient light

4. Bouncing and shaping light

5. Simulating sunlight with flash

6. Taking great sunset portraits

7. Using light shaping tools

8. Achieving a studio portrait look outdoors

9. Achieving a natural light look with flash

We will have one or more models on hand for this class as well as light modifiers, flashes, light stands, and transmitters and receivers. Bring your small hotshoe flash and accessories. Students will work in pairs will have a chance to work both as a photographer and as a lighting assistant. The focus will be on brief discussion followed by brief assignments. Rob will be present to instruct you, help with the technical stuff and make sure all the gear is running smoothly.

A “must have” skill for people who want to take better location portraits and dramatically lit shots.

I look forward to this class and the experiences it will bring to all of those who attend.

*Prerequisites for this class would be to take the Introduction to Using Flash Photography class or just have a good understanding of your flash and its capabilities (additional Nikon and Canon flashes will be available for use). You should have a DSLR and be able to shoot in manual mode.

**This class starts at 3:30pm and will last until 7:30pm if not later. I encourage you to stay after to get different lighting scenarios as the sky gets darker and darker.
