It is one thing to know how to take a photograph, but that is only half the battle. Come join us to learn how to edit your photos and really make them come alive. Make sure to bring your laptop with Lightroom already installed so you can follow along and ask questions.
Ansel Adams did most of his magic in the darkroom and that applies to us digital photographers today, but in the form of Lightroom, our digital darkroom. I have always been one to preach about getting the photo right in the camera, but that doesn't mean I don't make changes to them on the computer to really make the images POP!
This class is for those of you who wish to get the most of your images or just want to know how to use that program everyone told you to buy and cost you so much money. If you have always looked at someone else's photos and wondered how they got the colors to really pop out or how to convert you photos to black and white or sepia then this is the class for you.
In this class we will:
Learn the basics of getting started with Lightroom with importing, locating files, and navigating through the various options.
Learn where everything is and what all those buttons and sliders do, how to use them, and why to use them under the "Develop" tab.
Edit images and learn how to export them properly.
How to use the rating system to help organize your images effectively.
Discuss creating and adding a watermark to your photos.
Make a change to one photo and then sync those changes across multiple photos to help save you time in the editing process.
Provide you a few starter images to follow along with on your computer and then we will save time for you to edit a few of your photos and share the before and after with the class.
In order to get the most out of this class we strongly encourage you to bring your laptop or desktop to the class. We will have plenty of plugs for you to plug into, wifi and tables for you to get setup on. It would also be nice if you have Lightroom already setup on your computer (Versions 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 all work for this class).
This class will be 3 hours long and will be setup in a way for you to follow along and ask questions during the lecture and hands on portions of the class so you can get the most out of it. With this being the case the class is $59 due to the amount of setup and resources allocated to the class. It will also be kept smaller to ensure there is plenty of 1-on-1 attention.
What to bring:
Your computer with lightroom already installed. Don't have Adobe Lightroom? Buy it here.
All of the necessary cables to power and connect your computer.
Images you want to edit.
Pen and paper to take notes.
I'd love to take this class and that is the only day I can't make it (daughter's Bday party). Are you planning on having it again? And is the cost 59 or 79?
Yes, would you please offer your Lightroom workshop again? I wish to sign up for it.
Yes I missed it too! Hopefully sometime in March..........
Yes, the class will be available in the future and it is $59 for the class.
This class is full. When is the next one?
We are working on scheduling some more editing classes hopefully in March. So definitely look forward to them.
Umm... I'm not going now? I'll go to the next offering then.
Thank you so much. I just registered
I am signed up for the Feb 11 Adobe Lightroom class and turns out I have a very busy schedule through mid-March, would rather take a later class and offer my spot to someone on the waiting list ... is that an option??
Jason, is there a waiting list? I would love to take this class next weekend and I see Jean might want to take it on a later date
I'm interested in taking this workshop. If there is a waiting list, please add me. If space opens up, please let me know. Thanks!!
Is there any last minute openings?
There is a recent opening now
Can I take that opening?
Unfortunately, the opening has been taken now. But, after the class takes place on Saturday with success we will start adding it to the upcoming schedule since it has been so popular!
Jason recommended shooting RAW and saving add'l file in JPEG. LR nor any other program would recognize the Nikon NEF files. I had to go and download a demo of Nikon Capture NX2 to convert. Why?
Hi Tyler, it is because you have a newer version camera... possibly the Nikon D7000 or D5100. What you need to do is download the updated version of Lightroom from adobe.com or download the latest camera raw update here http://www.adobe....
and follow the instructions. I suggest RAW because it is the highest quality. If that is not of importance than JPEG will be just fine
LR should recognize a number of different raw formats e.g. NEF (Nikon), CR2 (Canon) & DNG (digital negative, a common open raw format). The only scenario that I can think of that could account for your situation is that your camera is newer than the version of LR that you have installed, so LR doesn't support your camera yet. Make sure you do a software u[grade to patch your LR software to the latest version for the widest support available. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the response, that is in fact the issue.
