Taking Better Photos Outdoors

Presidio Park (map)

Selected By: Jason Kirby

(Previously was Taking Better Photos Outdoors)

This class is for anyone interested in learning more about shooting better outdoor photos. Landscape and Macro (closeup or intimate if you don't have a macro lens) photography are very common and I am sure all of you have taken these type of shots or would like to. What this class will teach you is how to take the extra time to set a goal for what you want to capture, compose your photo and set your camera settings to take a draw dropping landscape or closeup photograph.

The objective of this class is to teach you what it takes to take an amazing photograph outdoors with the sun being your only source of light.

Here is what you will learn:

1. What to look for when composing an image and setting a goal or expectation for the final image.
2. How to accomplish your expected results by manipulating your camera functions. I will provide you with recommendations and a handout for you to refer to after the class.
3. What goes into macro photography and how to get the best results with the equipment you have (no macro lenses required, but is ideal).
4. Create an amazing landscape photograph that does not need to be edited in Photoshop.

This class is great for anyone wanting to enjoy a day at the park while learning more about their camera, natural light, and photography in general. I am keeping this class small so it is more one-on-one providing you a good experience and lots of hands-on activities.

You are going to walk away from this class with photos you will keep and remember forever and maybe even print and frame them.

Digital SLRs and Film SLRs only. Please do not bring a point-n-shoot as your primary camera. Those who have done so in the past were not able to maximize their learning experience.
*This class starts at 9:00am and will go to about 12:00pm. You can stay afterwards for questions
**Please bring your cameras fully charged, the camera manual, tripod (if you don’t have a tripod I will have extras), memory cards and a pen and paper.
